Accelerator Program for Startups in Sustainable Energy

Sustainable Aero Lab has built the leading acceleration program for startups in one of the toughest environments for new ventures: aviation. Since our launch in early 2021, we have mentored almost 100 startups, connecting them with around 100 highly experienced experts in aviation, venture capital, and entrepreneurship. We have added to our startups ca $500M in valuation.

We have also become a leading think tank to discuss the future of flight, dispensing our collective learning in easy-to-digest publications. In the past months, we have received sponsorships from highly acclaimed industry names such as Embraer-X, JetBlue Ventures, and Breakthrough Energy (The Gates Foundation).

With this background, we now broaden our approach into a much larger area:

Here is Our Framework for the Energy Transition

Energy Efficiency

The best energy is the energy we don’t need. Providing the same service for a lower amount of energy or providing more services for the same amount of energy. Old buildings are hard to insulate, and there are few incentives. We are always interested in solutions that will reduce the need for energy on a large scale. Software plays a big role in managing supply and demand and creating efficiencies.

Electrify anything that can be electrified

This means electrifying transport (cars, trucks, ships) and also electrifying heat (local heat pumps, district heat pumps, industrial heat). In this area, we are always interested in the commercialization of energy storage (heat or batteries), energy transmission (smart grids), and new uses of electric energy.

Green Molecules

For all that can’t be electrified (think aviation or fertilizer production), new molecules come into play; think Sustainable Aviation Fuels or ways to produce green hydrogen at a reasonable cost.
